Ever considered making money off of a job board? It's really not too difficult. All you really need is some programming; then you need to contact employers so that you can list jobs on your website. This usually works best if you work for a company that is currently hiring. You can use your ties within the company you work for to let them know about the job board you're running, and then you can start to post jobs your company is looking for.
A lot of the time if you're able to produce results your employer will tell others about your job board, and your job board will start to grow. You could always call temp agencies or local businesses as well, and get them to give you jobs to post on your board.
There is a lot of competition on the Internet at the time of this article (2009) within the job board website industry. If you are going to post a job board, try to look at your competitors and find something they're not doing in order to gain the edge.
Don't use Adsense or PPC programsJob boards are a visitor resource, much like a forum. You'll find on a job board your click through rate will be lower then other sites you might own. In this case, you'll want to look for another source of revenue other then Adsense or other PPC advertising programs. For instance, having employers pay you to post jobs works. Or, posting ads for other companies on a pay per monthly basis works too.
